Notes for CARSON (SR.) ROBERT LATIMER:
- Carson Robert Latimer and his wife, camewest by train in 1892 from Richmond Ontario, where they had been farming. They were following the lead of the other Latimer brothers: David, Staurt and William, who had migrated west in 1881, walking in a group of 25 from Winnipeg to Edmonton. They then filed for homesteads in the Turnip Lake area (now the Namao airport). When Carson and his wife came west, they also filed for a homestead in this district and lived their with his wife a two sons (the latter sirers were born on the farm). Besides farming Carson also Freighted on the Athabasca Landing Trail, and on one such trip to Wabasca suffered from abdomanal cramps on his return trip home. He managed to reach home with the aid of the other freighters, but died there shortly after from peritonitis, as his appendix ruptured. Grandmother lived on the farm for only a short period of time after that, she sold the farm and moved to Edmonton, where she resided in a big house on 97 street and 106A anenue until she was unable to care for it herself. Elizabeth then lived with Mildred LeLachuer until her death in 1946

Notes for HOWARD LATIMER:
Howard, my father, was only three months old when he came west with his parents, grew up and joined the army during World War !. He served three years in France, being wounded at Armiens and gassed at Ypres before he returned home in 1919 and was discharged. Around 1926 Howard and his New Bride , Pearl, purchased river lot 64, in the Namao district, from James Cust. They remained ther for the rest of their lives. My father, A jovial man and a willing worker joined in any district area project which was started for the good of the community. Like all other farmers, he helped pay his threshing bill by working with his rack and horses for minimal wage. He loved horses, and at one time had about 30 horses with which to do our farming. He engaged in mixed farming, milking cows for our own supply and shipping cream to Edmonton - Carson Latimer Jr.
